Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken with BBQ sauce until well combined.
Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet.
Layer the BBQ chicken over the tortilla chips, followed by a generous sprinkle of shredded cheese.
If using jalapeños, scatter them across the nachos at this stage.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Remove the nachos from the oven and sprinkle with chopped green onions.
Serve immediately with sour cream on the side for dipping.
