Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together before gradually adding to the wet ingredients.
  6. Once the batter is smooth, pour it into a greased and floured cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  9. Serve as is, or dust with powdered sugar for a touch of elegance.
