Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh cherries pitted and chopped
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 package fruit pectin such as Sure-Jell
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method
 

  1. Prepare the cherries by washing, pitting, and chopping them.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chopped cherries and sugar.
  3. Dissolve pectin in water according to package instructions.
  4. Combine cherry mixture and pectin solution, then add lemon juice.
  5. Pour the mixture into sterilized jars or freezer-safe containers.
  6. Allow the jam to sit at room temperature for 24 hours before freezing.
