Crispy Vegan Air-Fried Tofu Nuggets Without Oil

Vegan Air-Fried Tofu Nuggets (oil-free) made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 1 cup chickpea flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast

Method
 

  1. Press the tofu for 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and nutritional yeast.
  4. Add water gradually to the dry mixture until you achieve a smooth batter.
  5. Gently fold the tofu cubes into the batter until fully coated.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Arrange the coated tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  8. Air fry the tofu nuggets for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  9. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
