Game Face Football Cookies made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Green and brown icing for decoration
  • Edible eyes or other toppings

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, decorate your cookies with green and brown icing and add edible eyes or other toppings.
