Comforting and Quick Stovetop Chili Recipe

Easy Stovetop Chili made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 2 cans 15 oz each diced tomatoes
  • 1 can 15 oz kidney beans, rinsed
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese sour cream, and cilantro

Method
 

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the pot.
  3. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in the diced tomatoes and kidney beans, and stir well.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low.
  6. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary before serving.
