Dr. Seuss Lorax Pretzels made approachable with clear cues, pantry staples, and flexible swaps.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 ¼ teaspoons
  • 1 cup warm water 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup baking soda for boiling solution
  • 4 ounces white chocolate melted
  • Food coloring yellow and green
  • Sprinkles or edible glitter optional

Method

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and sugar, letting it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt, then gradually add the yeast mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare a baking soda solution by dissolving baking soda in a large pot of water.
  6. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each into a long rope before shaping it into a pretzel.
  7. Boil the pretzels in the baking soda solution for about 30 seconds per side, then remove them and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment.
  8. Bake the pretzels for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown, then cool slightly.
  9. Dip each pretzel in melted white chocolate, allowing excess to drip off, and decorate with food coloring and sprinkles.
